Mother

As I write this letter, I am leaving town. I cannot tell you where I’m going or when – if ever – I will see you again. In fact, this may well be the last you’ll hear from me.

There are so many things that I wish I could have told you. However, now, I can only write them and pray that you’ll understand. The first is that I love you and I’ll miss you, but this may be best for both of us. You were never a bad mother, but your love was stifling. Now, I’m free.

Your son,
Ezra
