Topical Monologues

Connor listened to the speaker drone on and on. He knew the subject was an important one. However, he’d always felt there was more to be gained from an engaging discussion than one person voicing their personal opinion on a matter.

Finally, he’d had enough. He stood and headed for the door. The speaker noticed the movement and cleared his throat. “Going somewhere, Master Connor?” he asked.

Whirling around, Connor tilted his head to one side. “You want an opinion now? I was beginning to think you felt that yours was the only one that mattered.” He grinned and said, “Coming to that, why don’t you try to decide where you think I’ve gone. You can speak about it after I’ve left.”

Then, he whirled back around and headed out of the room. He hid a smile as applause erupted from around the room. Clearly, he wasn’t the only one who felt that this so-called expert left much to be desired.
