Deceiving Appearances

Zackary’s jaw clenched as the captain looked him over. “I’m Kawaiian,” he said, his voice faint. When the man nodded and looked away, he sighed.

Everyone he met had the same reaction. They looked at him – at his small size, his rounded features, his wide eyes – and thought he was a child. Sometimes, he used that to his advantage.

Except that he wasn’t a child. He was a grown man. He had the desires and needs of any grown man. His appearance made it nearly impossible to have a normal relationship with women. Few saw him for what he was.
